Number of players: From 2 to max 6 players.
Deck: Stripped deck - 32 cards from A to 7. (French deck)
Limit: No limit. Dealer: Cards are dealt clockwise starting with the first active player after the dealers button.
Ante: Before the cards are dealt, each player must place the ante ("forced bet").
Each player receives two cards - The first one dealt to each player will be face down ("hole card") , and the second one face up - for everyone to see. The player with the highest ranking up-card must make a forced bet (bring in). It is usually amount of 2 x the ante or higher. The action continues clockwise until betting is completed for the round. After this first betting round, each player receives another card face up and betting action follows. This is repeated two more times, so finally each player has five cards (4 face up and 1 face down). After the fifth card has been dealt to each player and the betting round is over, one card is placed in the middle of the table (Vela community card). This card can be used by all players to improve their hands. The final betting round follows. If more then one player reaches this stage of play, it is time for the showdown. If there was betting on 5th street the player who made the last bet or raise must show his hand first. Otherwise the player showing the highest hand on the board shows his hand first. The best five-card hand wins the pot and if two or more players have the same hand they split the pot.
Note: Aces can play for high or low so a straight (straight-flush) can be: A-7-8-9-10 (lowest) or 10-J-Q-K-A.
Ties in card rank for the both bring-in and showdown (in the case of the equal straight flush, flush, straight, 2 pairs, pair) are broken by suits in the following order: (descending)
The first player to act after the draw has an option to initiate "split". If all the players in a pot chose to split the pot, the amount is divided equally amongst the active players in that pot.
